Basement Flooring

One of the most important but often overlooked parts of the house is the basement. Actually the basement can be used quite a number of things and any other uses you may plan will be an important factor in deciding what kind of flooring you should use.

The most common and popular types of Basement Flooring purposed and usage.

  1. Carpet

It won't a good idea for basement when people hauling and dragging heavy object accross its surface all the time but if the basement is often used for storing relatively small objects that do not need to be dragged along then carpeting is an option to soften the look of the basement. The basement air moisture will cause mold build ups in the carpet so an air dehumidifier is needed as preventive action.

  1. Ceramic tile

For concrete, itis a good alternative but for basement that heavy stuff hauled to and from it on the regular basis, it won't be a good option. Housewives usually converted the basement into a room for placing the washer and dryer machines where moisture is a natural occurrence in most basements due to the humidity of the air running beneath a house that make ceramic tile protects the floor from water damage.

  1. Concrete

People’s Basement Flooring like plain old concrete is the most common thing you’ll see for placing store stuff.  For a lot of traffic with people hauling stuff to and from it, concrete flooring is the best for basements. And it also suitable for people who decided to set up a home workshop.

  1. Harwood laminate

The ideal flooring for basements, instead of a storage space, this basement has been turn into a function room like a game room, music room etc. This Basement Flooring need a good ventilation system because the air moisture buildup that basement commonly suffer from and also this hardwood laminate flooring is very attractive and warm.  The humidity will damage the wood if the basements remain closed off.

  1. Foam /rubber mats

Rubber mats is waterproof and won’t have any problem with mold build up and also its noise insulating capability.  And this flooring is good choice for busy basements whit a lot of activity and noise as the mats will also act to dampen sounds coming from the basement.

  1. Radiant heating

For house in cold environment, radian heating panels are the ideal choice. These panels are waterproof and actually trap and hold heat, sturdy, keeping houses warm even in the deadly winter.  This type of flooring is inapplicability or house in hotter environment since the basements are naturally hot and the trapped heat in basements is what causes the air humidity in them.
