Why Install A Garage Floor?

Improving the overall look of the garage, as well as just upgrading the concrete garage floor are both compelling reasons to install garage floor tiles. If you work in your garage, then you understand that the floor is not just something you park a car on. It's the first thing you clean when you're done working, and the first thing to look dirty when it's not maintained. Well, I suppose the car itself might be the exception, but you get the point. If the garage floor is clean, the whole garage looks spiffy. If the garage floor is dirty, cracked, and stained, then the entire garage looks old and worn out. I always hate to finish a big job in the garage only to turn around and realize that now I have to spend an hour cleaning the floor, or leave it dirty.

Considerations When Choosing Garage Flooring

There's lots of tile types, styles, and manufacturers out there, so there is some decision making to do. Will you put down a myriad of colors, or just one solid? Do you want some standard tiles, or something not so square? Does it matter if the garage flooring channel debris and water out of the garage, and does it need to provide traction for walking, or does it just need to look pretty?

Why You Should Consider Sticky Garage Floor Tiles

Especially considering how effective it is, sticky-backed garage floor tiles have got to be one of the best types of garage floor coverings that you can install on your own. Not only will it eventually cover the entire garage, but unlike epoxy garage floor paint, you can start when you like, and finish four years later if that's what life deals you. Although ultimately time consuming, garage floor tile can be started and stopped whenever you like since it's individual tiles that you're laying down. No worries about drying time or anything like that - just put five or six down before the game or TV show and eventually you'll have the entire garage flooring in place.

Preparing The Cement Garage Floor Is Easy

Tiles do require a cleaner surface than almost any other garage floor coating. As they have sticky backs, they'll stick to whatever they first contact; even if that first thing is dust, gravel, dirt, or oil. Therefore, it's very important to be sure that the garage floor is very, very clean and that any holes or cracks are filled in and sanded down to provide as even a surface as possible

Hire A Garage Floor Installer?

For this type of garage floor covering, it's probably not necessary, nor cost efficient. The total number of man hours really wouldn't be any different than epoxy, which is a lot tougher and will last longer. The beauty of garage floor tiles lies in the ease of install. All you need is a straight edge, a utility knife, and some time.
